1) FLEEING
Yesterday, we learnt that Sex is in our veins. This means, we are naturally created by God and born with sexual desire for the opposite sex. And we had a wonderful discussion on how we can control this sexual urge before and after marriage. Today on SEX 101, I like us to see what yesterday’s revelation that Sex is part of our system really means to us.
Since sex is an instruction God coded into our system, our bodies will respond to the instruction in certain ways immediately we enter an atmosphere that triggers it. Gentlemen, this is why we erect without anyone telling us. Ladies, this is why you get wet with appetite under certain conditions and at certain times. It is biological. God never instructed Adam and Eve to have sex. He simply wired the instruction into them. And as they grew closer, they developed sexual interest and attraction. And actually had sex without anyone teaching them.
This teaches that in order to control our sexual urge in avoiding sexual immorality, we must know the environment and conditions that trigger it the most and avoid them as far as possible. Because our bodies are created to have sex, no matter how spiritual you are, if you submit yourself to certain words, touches and sights, your body (even if not you, your body) will have sex.
This is why many fall. They trust their flesh. But the flesh needs a spiritual mind to control it. And a spiritual mind is one that is ruled by God’s wisdom. God’s wisdom says the way to deal with sexual immorality is to flee. It means, don’t try to control yourself. Just leave there. Our “self-control” must be wise and scriptural, not carnal.
What are we saying today?
1. Because sex is wired into your system, your body will obey the Sex instruction it has and receives from itself when the atmosphere triggers it.
2. The best way to avoid sexual immorality is to excuse yourself from things that awaken your sexual urge strongly especially when you are unmarried.
A question to start our discussions is;
What things illegally awaken our sexual feelings and how can we avoid them or reduce their impact on us?
