Often when sex is mentioned, our minds are cast back to the dark. And our memories of our experience or knowledge of sex may not be too pleasant or be things we are proud of. Many of us have had the pleasure of shame and the shame of pleasure through sex.
I’m referring to victims of rape, fornication and even adultery. I’m also referring to homosexuals and lesbians. Maybe the word “Sex” takes you back to these darkness and uneasy feeling of shame and failure.

This is how the woman caught in adultery felt. Her private act was being publicly discussed by religious people. Some of these religious people even had their own shortfalls. But hers was the subject this time, and the laws were read over her head. The subject of sex ushered her into regret and guilt. And she was near to death.
The fortunate thing was, Jesus was in the discussion. And He wasn’t there to condemn or to put her to shame. He supervised the discussion and inspired the religious folks to extend mercy and grace. He forgave the adulterous woman, and commanded her to go and sin no more.
(Scripture Reference: John 8:1-11)

When Jesus walks into your dark memories and practices of sex, He isn’t in to condemn you. He is in to silence your Accuser who is the devil, and empower you to go and sin no more.
At this Sex Conference, we are not here with stones to condemn anyone to death nor accusations to baptize anyone in shame. We are here with Jesus to free and be freed from every condemnation and the power sexual sins have over us.
I pray every stone in our religious hands are dropped. And Jesus is magnified to save us from condemning others, and from lust, sin and every awkward entanglement.
Amen.
