Everything God created was good.
It is important to understand that God never created sin. After all of creation, his remarks was that everything was very good (Gen. 1:31), and that included sex. Like we have come to establish in this conference, sex is sacred, God-made, good and a blessing in its original creation. Since God didn’t create sin, what is Sin and how did Sin come?

Sin is simply perversion of what is good. What then is perversion? Let’s explain perversion with this example. Should one try crossing a river with one beautiful Italian shoe, they would drown naturally. This wouldn’t mean the shoe wasn’t good. It simply means they used it for the wrong purpose. What they needed was a canoe or a boat. Should you wear the shoe for the right foot on your left and vice versa, you would also have problems. This wouldn’t mean the shoe is bad. No! You are not using it well. You are abusing it. If instead of wearing size 38, you wear size 32, you may end up wounded. It doesn’t mean the shoe company did a poor job. It means you are perverting the use for which the shoe was meant. Thus, perversion means using something wrongly, changing its intended application.

Similarly, in order to understand what constitutes sexual perversion, we should see the actual purpose and nature of sex. Let us see that from Genesis 1:28 shortly.
“And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” (Genesis 1:28) Therefore, we see that;
1. Sex was declared a blessing over a married couple.
2. Sex was declared a blessing over two persons, not one person.
3. Sex was declared a blessing over male and female, not same sex but opposite sex.
4. Sex was declared a blessing as an integral part of the broader purpose of humanity.
5. Sex was declared a blessing unto God-like humans, not fallen ones.

The above points sum up the full requirements for perfect sex. This stands to reason that sex outside marriage (fornication and adultery), sex with oneself (masturbation), sex with same sex (homosexuality) and sex with animals are all perversions. On the deeper side however, sex between persons who are not born again is still not the perfect sex. It is perverted because that wasn’t the original blessing. Again, sex as a standalone pleasure, without being incorporated into a purposeful and purpose-fulfilling life is a perversion.

In order to enjoy sex as God created it, therefore, one must first be born again. We must also discover God’s purpose for our lives and be about that. Then, we must be married, for sex is a blessing only within marriage. And we must bring our sexual desires under the glorious light of God’s word. If sex in its perfect state is a blessing, then logically, perverted sex brings curses with it. So we should avoid all forms of perverted sex. The Bible categorically says that fornication or sexual immorality is a sin, not just against God, but against our very own bodies.
